Essie Gel Setter Kit

So my previous post was about the Sally Hansen Gel Polish.  I was impressed with that brand.  I was told by a friend NOT to try the Revlon brand, it didn't work as well.  This disappointed me and I have NOT bought it.  Though with painting your nails, it is best to make sure you buff, shape, put on base coat, thin coats of the color, and a good top coat.  This bad experience from my friend could have been because of the lack of the base coat or that the Revlon one really was just that bad.

So the two things I really like about the Essie gel setter is, no light! and no extra polish remover!  I can use it like a normal nail polish.  This totally sold me since I ruined my nails before and it took several weeks for my nails to recover.  Since then, I make sure to take my biotin, which I haven't been taking and my skin is a train wreck, so my hair, nails, and skin look good.

The Essie gel top coat is nice and thick.  It's a bit thicker than the Sally Hansen one and it helps your manicure last a little longer.  My manicure lasted about 4-5 days.  I'm so hard on my nails, I type for a living (not blogging--yet...), so my manicures are gone in a day or two.  I feel this is a waste of time and product.  I like to make sure my products are used to the maximum of the net worth.  Yah yah yah, FRUGAL!!

I hate going to get my nails done at a salon because the manicure doesn't last.  Also many of the walk-in places are run by ladies from other countries.  Every time I go, they talk about me in their native language trying to figure out what country I'm from and ask why I don't speak my birth language.  *nosy*  It totally drives me nuts and I feel that I spend WAY too much money for ONE manicure that I could use that money to buy a bunch of nail products and use them like twenty times.  This is why I was so excited about the gel polishes.

I love the colors of Essie, yes they're WAY more expensive than other brands but you do get what you pay for.  Often you can find some dupes of other products but sometimes you just can't.  I always feel happy to buy Essie brand polish because it's not clumpy, not too thing, and the colors are very opaque!  This starter set posted is similar color to what I got.  I bought this during the summer time and used it several times.

When I first started dating my boyfriend, he was impressed that I painted my nails so often and I had really cool colors.  This was the one ploy of how I felt I could get him to keep dating me.  No, I felt it was nice to paint my nails since I was going on a date with a guy I was really was trying to impress.  Since I got so busy working and really sick, I haven't painted them in awhile.  My hands get dry in the winter  and are a train wreck even when I take biotin.

But this is the best no light gel nail polish I have tried so far.  I have seen other brands but they all require a light.  I don't have room for more stuff but small bottles of nail polish, I can make room.

So stay tuned for the next blog.

  1. It is always a challenge to remove gel polish, which is actually a good thing. This company makes great colors and the gel polish lasts for up to three weeks for me.

    1. I haven't found it to work for three weeks, only a week. I do a lot with my hands but it works well for non-salon care. I love it! It's nice that any Essie color can be used.
